If you’ve wandered down Maplewick High Street early in the morning, you may already know Oliver.
He’s the village baker, and he’s usually up long before most of Maplewick is awake.

While the rest of the village is still tucked up in bed, Oliver is busy baking bread, buns, pies and all sorts of delicious things for the day ahead. His bakery is one of those places where the smell seems to travel down the street before the doors have even opened.
Oliver is friendly, hardworking and quietly proud of what he does.
He knows his regular customers, remembers their favourites and is always happy to have a little chat across the counter.
What Oliver doesn’t know is that someone in Maplewick has a rather special fondness for him.
Fae, the village postmistress, happens to be his secret admirer.
She has never quite found the courage to tell him.
Perhaps she lingers just a little longer than necessary when she visits the bakery.
Perhaps she finds reasons to stop by.
Perhaps the occasional letter addressed to Oliver takes a suspiciously long time to make its way through the post office…
Oliver, however, remains completely unaware.
As far as he’s concerned, Fae is simply a friendly customer and neighbour.
For now, anyway.
And perhaps one day he’ll finally realise that the person delivering his post has been leaving something rather more personal than letters in his thoughts.
